Spotlight on Luang Prabang

Luang Prabang, a short 3h flight from Singapore, should be on your radar for a weekend getaway. The tranquil UNESCO Heritage protected area is a charming town with nary a traffic light, and is filled with glistening temples and French-indochinese architecture - the remnants of their colonial heritage. Nearby, be sure to visit the Kuang Si falls, an impressive series of cascading pale turquoise waterfalls, and cruise down the the Mekong River at sunset, canapés and champagne in hand. Spend your days meandering through the quaint boutique shops and feast on French-Laotian fine dining come nightfall.

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to accommodation. The Pullman’s rooms are large and spacious, and well away from the bustle of the main town. Or for a bit of colonial glamour, hole yourself up at one of the Rosewood’s stunning hilltop tents which overlook the mountain range.
